Although doctors have it in their power to advise patients for modern age medicines for heartburn treatment, they refrain from doing so because most cases of heartburn are easily treated with the use of traditional treatment methods. These conventional methods of reducing the intake of certain type of items and the use of regular anta-acids seem to work fine with most sufferers. However, with patients who show poor response to such treatment the use of modern age medicine becomes crucial.
The latest in a doctor’s arsenal to fight off heartburn are H2 blockers more commonly sold in the market under the names of Zantac, Pepcid and Tagamet. Higher concentration of antacids such as those containing both aluminum hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide also work great. Finally the use of heartburn specific drugs such as lansoprazole, metoclopramide and omeprazole are also helping doctors provide relief to heartburn patients who have failed with conventional treatment methods.
